What we collect, and what we don't

Who we are

ServiceApartment.com is a public reference of serviced apartment buildings. We take no bookings and are not an agency. For any question about this notice, or about information held about you, write to lee@serviceapartment.com.

Pages are about buildings, not people

The pages here describe buildings and the businesses that operate them — addresses, unit types, what is included, what is published about price. That is information about premises and companies, not about individuals, and we do not collect names, contact details or photographs of people from any source.

There is one honest exception. Some operators trade under their own name, so a business detail can also be a personal detail. Where that is the case we rely on our legitimate interest in maintaining an accurate public reference. You can object at any time using the report-an-error link on any record, and a request for limited display is honoured without conditions or delay.

What we collect from you

If you submit a correction or claim a building — your name, email address, an optional phone number, and what you tell us. This is sent to us by email and is what allows us to reply and to check the point you have raised.

If you email or call us — we keep that correspondence.

When you visit the site — nothing that identifies you. We do count searches, in a way designed so that no person is part of the count; see the two sections below.

Why we collect it, and who else sees it

We use what you send us to answer you and to correct records. We do not sell it and we do not use it for marketing.

One other company handles it on our behalf and nobody else does: our email provider, Resend, which delivers correction messages and the acknowledgements we send back to you. We do not share your details with the operator of a building you have written to us about, unless you ask us to or unless it is unavoidable in resolving the point you raised — and if that is needed we will ask you first.

Analytics and cookies

This site sets no cookies of its own, and uses no analytics, advertising or tracking service. Nothing follows you from page to page, nothing is shared with an advertising network, and no profile of you is built anywhere.

We count what people search for

Added 4 September 2026. When you search this site, we count the search. We do this because we are a small index that is still growing, and knowing which places people look for and cannot find is how we decide which buildings to add next.

What is recorded is three things and nothing else: the month, the words searched for, and whether we had anything to show. No IP address, no device or browser information, no referring page, no cookie, no account, no identifier of any kind — and no time more precise than the month. There is nothing in what we keep that could be traced back to you, because nothing about you is part of it.

The search box takes free text, so two rules protect anyone who types something they did not mean to. A search that does not look like a place or a building — one containing an email address, a web address, a long number, or simply too many words — is counted but its text is discarded before anything is written down. And no search term is ever shown in a report, an email or a dataset until at least three separate searches have used it, so a one-off never surfaces.

We may tell an operator how many people searched for their town in a given month, and we may include these counts in data we license. Those are counts and never enquiries. We never pass an individual search, or anyone's details, to an operator or to anyone else. We take no bookings and we are not an agency, and handing your enquiry to a business would be exactly that.

How long we keep it

Correspondence about a correction is kept for as long as the record it concerns is published, because the history of how a record changed is part of the record's value. Other correspondence is kept for six years, in line with normal business record-keeping. Search counts are kept indefinitely, because a demand series is only worth anything over years — they contain no personal data to expire.

Your rights

You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, or object to our holding it. Write to lee@serviceapartment.com and we will answer within one month.

If you are not satisfied with how we have handled it, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
