Rehousing a household, for a period nobody can put a date on

This is a reference, not a booking service. It tells you which buildings we hold, who runs them and what is published about them — and it is straight with you about how few that currently is.

What makes this search different

A claim begins with an estimate and rarely ends on it. A household is placed for “six to eight weeks” while a floor dries, and the reinstatement runs to five months. Most accommodation is priced and contracted for a fixed run, so the thing you actually need — somewhere that can extend without the whole arrangement being renegotiated — is the thing hardest to establish before you commit to it.

The geography is tighter than it looks from outside. The children stay at the same school and someone still has to get to the same job, so “somewhere similar nearby” is often a few streets rather than a borough, with the right number of bedrooms in it. That is a small search, and a small search is exactly where a nightly booking site is least useful.

And what is paid has to stand up afterwards — to the insurer, to the policyholder, sometimes to an ombudsman. That needs a figure with a date and a source attached, not a number somebody read out on the phone.

What this site does

  • One page per building. Its name and address, the unit types in it, what is included, and any rate the operator publishes — shown for the period they published it for.
  • Every fact carries its source and the date we read it. That is the part that matters for a file: you can show where a figure came from and when. If we cannot show a fact is right, we take it down rather than leave it up.
  • A direct link to the operator's own website. No booking fee, no commission, no affiliate tag. You deal with them directly, and they never pay us for the introduction.
  • Order is by how complete and how recently checked a page is. Position is never for sale, to anyone, at any price — so nothing you see here is here because somebody paid to be seen.

What it does not do

  • We cannot place anybody, tonight or at all. We take no bookings and hold no availability, so we cannot tell you whether a building has space. Only the operator can, and you contact them yourself.
  • We do not quote prices, and we never convert a nightly or weekly rate into a monthly one. Where an operator publishes no monthly figure, ours stays empty rather than estimated — an invented number is worse than a blank in a file somebody may have to defend.
  • We are not an agency. We do not act between you and an operator, do not negotiate, do not hold a panel, and do not pass your details or your policyholder's to anyone.
  • We do not claim to cover a city. What we publish is what we have checked, and it is listed below in full.

If we do not have it yet

Search anyway. When you look for a place we hold nothing in, that search is counted, and the counts are how we decide which buildings to add next. A search you make today is the reason somewhere appears here later.

Three things are recorded and no others: the month, the words searched for, and whether we had anything to show. No name, no address, no account, nothing that identifies you or your organisation, and no time more precise than the month. It is set out in full in the privacy notice.

Coverage changes as operators add their buildings, so it is worth looking again. And if there is something you cannot find, you can write to us. We will tell you whether we hold anything and point you at the operator if we do. We do not take bookings, we are not an agency, and we will not go looking on your behalf.
